What will happen on my first visit?

Your first visit will consist of helping the Podiatrist understand your medical history through a consultation process prior to your treatment. We will take a thorough medical history, medications list and assessment of the feet. This will allow you to present your problem and in doing so, assist the Podiatrist in diagnosing and treating any issues. Depending on what is required we may need to book you in at a later date (e.g. a New Patient Appointment is booked but Nail Surgery is also required….) .

How long does an appointment last?

The appointment will vary in length depending on treatment required, appointments will usually last no longer than 30 minutes

Do I need to do anything before coming or bring anything with me?

Bring any insoles that you currently use, and a list of medications, other than that, unless specifically advised, just bring yourself!
We would kindly ask that, to allow our appointments to run smoothly, please arrive wearing socks instead of tights

What if I need to change my appointment?

Please call in on 07841818580 and we'll do our best to set you up with another, more suitable time if required. If leaving a message please make sure to leave your name, appointment time and number to re-arrange. If circumstances permit, please allow 24hrs notice to allow us to fill your space, as a small business we would be grateful

I have a relative that's housebound, do you do home visits?

Unfortunately, we no longer provide home visits. Our premises are located on the ground floor, with wheelchair access and could be suitable for those who are less mobile. Give us a call if you have a query about a housebound relative and we can refer you to the correct places.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, card payments and Paypal transfer.

How do I get there?

We are a five minute walk from Coatbridge town centre, we are at the bottom of Academy Street on the same side as the old Library , which is well supplied by bus and taxi services. For drivers, there is on street parking both on Academy Street & Baird Street. There are parking restrictions so please be mindful. See the "Contact Us" page for a map and exact address details

I am bringing a relative for an appointment, can I wait on the premises?

There is a waiting area provided and toilet facilities. If you are going to be present in the appointment, there will be seating available for relatives

What standard of care can I expect?

The Podiatrists hold an honours degree in Podiatry from Glasgow Caledonian University. They also hold additional certificates in Local Anaesthesia and Prescription Only Medicines. We are registered with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) which assures the highest level of training, professional skills & behaviour. Lastly, we are also part of The College of Podiatry which inform our practice, assuring we are maintaining standards and leading with evidence based care

What is the difference between Podiatry and Chiropody?

Ultimately, they are describing the same speciality. One is the Greek term for the foot, the other is Latin.
In regards to qualifications - If you studied after 1992 then you would have completed a degree (4 years Honours degree in Scotland) in Podiatry.
There was an attempt to regulate and protect the term Podiatrist (to safeguard the public) but sadly this didn’t come to fruition

I have private health insurance through my work, can I claim my treatment back?

Yes you can! Well, it depends on the insurer. For the majority of private health companies they will only require an invoice from us with the relevant details, this will allow you to claim your treatment cost back. Check that your insurer pays out for Podiatry treatment first.
